The insurer is responsible for giving written notice to any agent who will be terminated or who will not be renewed within thirty days of the nonrenewal or termination.
Appointments are renewed biennially through sponsoring insurers. Each insurer receives a list from the Department's records showing all agents currently appointed with the insurer. The insurer is responsible for terminating any appointment prior to December 31. Otherwise, the insurer must pay the renewal fee no later than March 31 for each agent that the Department's records show is currently appointed with that insurer. Renewal for life and health lines of authority is March 31 on odd years; renewal for all other lines of authority is March 31 on even years.
