Most Kentucky employers are subject to the Workers Compensation Act and must carry workers compensation insurance or become selfinsured, even if they have only one parttime employee. Some employees are exempt from mandatory workers compensation coverage. Farm workers, persons employed as domestic servants in the home of an employer who has less than two fulltime employees, persons employed by homeowners for residential maintenance and repair for up to twenty (20) consecutive work days, Business partners who are owners of a business are not required to obtain coverage on themselves. However, partners must file a copy of the partnership agreement with the DWC.
