What Happens When My Dog Is Impounded?
If the animal is registered, then the owner will be notified, and will have a chance to redeem the dog. If the owner does not, then the dog may be offered to an animal shelter or donated to research. If the after 24 hours, an animal shelter or research facility does not take the animal, the animal may be humanely euthanized. In addition, an animal may be destroyed if it is obviously injured or diseased.
