Am I Legally Responsible If My Dog Injures Or Kills My Neighbor's Cattle Or Other Livestock?

Yes. You may be liable to pay to the owner of the livestock damages for the injuries caused by your dog or the full value of the livestock if your dog kills any livestock. It does not matter whether you, as the owner of the dog, did not know where your dog was at the time it attacked the livestock of your neighbor. It also does not matter whether or not you have any knowledge of your dog's previous violent behavior. You may also be guilty of a misdemeanor in criminal court, and be required to pay a fine of up to $500.
