Are There Restrictions On The Hours A Minor Is Permitted To Work?

The number of hours teens may work differs based on age, time of year, and parental permission. School day hours differ from the nonschool day hours. Sixteen and 17 year olds can work extended hours with written parental permission. Teens 16 or 17 years of age that have graduated from high school or have received a General Educational Development (GED) diploma are not subject to the hour restrictions. Refer to the The Teen Worker Pamphlet for specific hours.
