The Child Support Enforcement Program

The Child Support Enforcement Program, authorized under Title IVD of the Social Security Act, provides services to assist parents in their mutual obligation to financially support and provide health insurance for their children. The county Family Support Division, a component of the District Attorney`s office, is the local child support enforcement agency (Title IVD Office). The Family Support Division is commonly known as the District Attorney`s office, D.A.`s office, the FSD or local child support agency. For the purposes of this work, the county or local office of the Family Support Division will be referred to as the FSD or local child support agency.

Child support payments are used to repay the government for public assistance paid to families, or are sent directly to the family if they are not receiving public assistance.
