Is Mediation Voluntary Or Mandatory?

It is both voluntary and mandatory. It is voluntary in that the program may be suggested to parties by judges, attorneys, or through self­referral. It can be categorized as mandatory in that many Arkansas Judges are now ordering parties into mediation with the Access Mediation Program serving as one option to work through the issues.
