What is the National Flood Insurance Program?

The National Flood Insurance Program (“NFIP”) provides insurance policies for people in case of damages from flooding, as most homeowner’s insurance policy exclude losses that occur due to flooding. Plus, if you receive federal disaster assistance due to flooding, you are required to purchase and maintain a NFIP policy in order to cover losses from flooding in the future.
