Can City Officials Force Me To Vaccinate My Dog?

Yes. When quarantine has been declared, the state veterinarian can order any animal to be vaccinated within a period stated in the order and you must pay for the cost of the antirabies immunization. However, local health departments may pay for the antirabies immunization without charge.

When an order for a rabies vaccination is made, any animal within the quarantined area whose owner refuses to have the owner's animal vaccinated shall be seized and disposed of by the state veterinarian.
