What happens if a complaint is filed against me with the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners?

If it is determined that the Board has jurisdiction over the allegations then an investigation is conducted. If the investigation reveals a violation of the South Carolina Medical Practice Act then the respondent licensee will be offered the choice between a consent agreement and a formal hearing. A consent agreement or formal hearing can result in sanctions against the licensee. If no violation is found to have occurred then the matter will dismissed at the completion of the investigation.
