What is the potential liability in a medical malpractice case in New York?

New York law does not limit the amount of damages for which medical malpractice defendants may be found liable. Therefore, medical malpractice defendants may be required to pay for a plaintiff’s economic damages, noneconomic damages and for punitive damages in any reasonable amount decided upon by a jury or judge.
