What Error Do Licensing Applicants Most Frequently Make?

Not providing the full name and the NAIC number of the insurance companies that the applicant will be authorized to represent is the most frequently made error by license applicants. Your application is accompanied by detailed instructions describing the information required to be completed on the application form and any additional materials that must be provided. It is critical that you carefully read through the entire set of instructions prior to completing your application to ensure the information you provide in your application is complete and correct.

For example: For ABC Insurance Company of the Americas:

  • Do not write: ABC
  • Do not write: ABC Insurance
  • Do not write: ABC Insurance Group
  • Do not write: ABC Insurance Company
  • WRITE: ABC Insurance Company of the Americas, # 99999

If you are applying for a disability agent license, do not include companies which are only authorized to write property and casualty insurance.
