Can I Keep My Home If I File Bankruptcy in Texas?

Texas law allows homeowners to keep 100% of the equity in their home from unsecured creditors. That means that as long as the homeowner is current on his or her mortgage, or can find a way to become current, and can continue to make regular monthly mortgage payments then the homeowner will keep his or her home in a bankruptcy proceeding.

The information on this page is meant to provide a general overview of the law. The laws in your state and/or city may deviate significantly from those described here. If you have specific questions related to your situation you should speak with a local attorney.
