A South Carolina homeowner may be able to keep his or her home if the homeowner has less equity in the home than that which is allowed by the state homestead exemption and if the homeowner is able to pay the mortgage payments on time and in full.
The South Carolina homestead exemption provides a $50,000 exemption for a single owner and a $100,000 exemption for multiple homeowners.
