What If The Mother Is Not Sure Who The Father Is?

The mother will be asked questions about men who may have fathered the child. It is very important for the mother to provide as much information as she can to help determine the father`s identity. If necessary, a DNA test will be used to identify the biological father. Paternity can still be established, even if the father is still in school or if he lives in another state.

The information on this page is meant to provide a general overview of the law. The laws in your state and/or city may deviate significantly from those described here. If you have specific questions related to your situation you should speak with a local attorney.
