When is Spousal Support or Alimony Awarded in Michigan?
A Michigan Court may order one party to pay alimony for the suitable maintenance of the other party. Alimony may be terminated upon the remarriage of the party receiving alimony unless an agreement to the contrary has been enacted between the parties. (Michigan Revised Statutes, Section 552.13)
