What are the Residency and Filing Requirements for Divorce in Louisiana?
A Louisiana Court has jurisdiction over a divorce proceeding if one or both of the spouses has been a resident of a Louisiana Parish for at least 6 months. A petition for divorce can be filed in the parish where either party is domiciled. (Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure Article 10)
