What Documents and Supporting Information are Required to be Submitted with a Divorce Petition in Illinois?
A divorce petition must be verified and set forth: the age, occupation, residence and, length of residence of each party; the date of marriage and place where it was registered; whether a petition for dissolution of marriage is pending in any other county or state; that the jurisdictional requirements for divorce are satisfied; the grounds upon which divorce is sought; the names, ages, and addresses of all living children of the marriage and a statement as to whether the wife is pregnant; any child support, child custody, or spousal support agreements reached by the parties and; the relief sought. (Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act, 750 ILCS 5/403)
