When is Spousal Support or Alimony Awarded in Connecticut?

Alimony may be awarded in any case where the court deems it desirable. The Court may consider testimony of witnesses, whether it is desirable for a parent receiving alimony support to return to work or stay home with the children, the length of the marriage, the causes for the annulment, dissolution of the marriage or legal separation, the age, health, station, occupation, amount and sources of income, vocational skills, employability, estate and needs of each of the parties. (Connecticut Statutes Chapter 815j, Section 46b-82)
