How Do I Know If My Employer Is Covered By Workers' Compensation?

Most Kentucky employers are subject to the Workers Compensation Act and must carry workers compensation insurance or become self­insured, even if they have only one part­time employee. Some employees are exempt from mandatory workers compensation coverage. Farm workers, persons employed as domestic servants in the home of an employer who has less than two full­time employees, persons employed by homeowners for residential maintenance and repair for up to twenty (20) consecutive work days, Business partners who are owners of a business are not required to obtain coverage on themselves. However, partners must file a copy of the partnership agreement with the DWC.
