What Happens When An Animal Is Impounded?
If the owner can be identified, then the impound facility will notify the owner and give them the opportunity to redeem the animal. If the owner does not, then the animal may be offered to an animal shelter or donated to research. If no shelter or research facility will take the animal, it may be humanely killed by euthanasia.
