Yes. It is your duty to report within 48 hours to a local health or safety official any dog which you believe is affected by, or may have rabies. After your report, the local official will report the possible infection to the state veterinarian. The state veterinarian will then examine the dog to discover whether or not it is indeed dangerous or diseased.
