Can My Dog Be Killed By Animal Control If It Bites Somebody And Was Never Found To Be A Dangerous Dog?

It depends. If you dog, which has not be found to be a dangerous dog, causes severe injury or death to a human being it may be detained by animal control for 10 days, at the end of which the dog can be killed You will, however, be able to set a hearing to challenge the allegations before your dog is terminated. If your dog simply bites a person, domesticated animal or livestock and the bite does not cause severe injury or death your dog cannot be detained and killed, however, animal control may investigate your dog to determine if it should be considered a dangerous dog.
