What Are The Pre-Licensing Education Requirements?
Prelicensing education requirements help ensure a minimum level of knowledge about the products and services that agents, brokers and solicitors offer to the public. In addition, license candidates must understand and comply with the laws and rules that govern insurance. You must meet the following requirements before applying for a license.

Your sponsoring insurance company will give you a list of authorized prelicensing schools. You may also send a written request to the Department for a current list. Include a selfaddressed, stamped #10 envelope with your request. A prelicensing education certificate is issued at the end of your course. The certificates must be printed on either state or school letterhead. The certificate is valid for one year. You must pass your license exam within 12 months of the date of the certificate.
You must bring your original prelicensing education certificate, including the seal and the prelicense school number, to the testing center when you test. Altered certificates WILL NOT be accepted. If your certificate has been altered, contact your prelicensing provider to get a corrected certificate prior to your testing.
