What Are The Penalties For Subsequent Offenses?

The Virginia Code also sets forth a number of more severe punishments for second and third offenses. Second offenses, upon conviction, result in a mandatory jail sentence and a three year license suspension. Third offenses are felonies. In order to get these more severe enhanced penalties, the Prosecutor is required to provide certified copies of prior convictions.
