What Are Some Other Regulations?
- Open intoxicants are permitted in the vehicle for passengers only.
- Firearms must be transported unloaded in a container with the ammunition in a separate container. Handguns require a valid permit. Permits are available to nonresidents and may be obtained from county sheriffs or the chief of police in Philadelphia.
- Studded tires are permitted from November 1 to April 15.
- Tire chains are not required.
- Pennsylvania has a seat belt law with secondary enforcement for all front seat occupants.
