Can The Debtor Stop The Collector From Contacting Him?

If the debtor writes a letter to the collection agency telling them to stop contacting them, the creditor may not contact the debtor again. Except to tell them they will not be contacting you further. However, this does not stop them from notifying the debtor that they are going to take a specific action regarding the debt owed, such as legal action.
