What happens if someone files a complaint against my child care facility?
A complaint can be filed by anyone who has concerns regarding the operations of a facility. A complaint may be made to report a violence of a licensing requirement, abuse or neglect of a child, or to report an unlicensed child care program. The complaint can be made in writing, in person, or over the phone. Unless legal action or a referral to law enforcement officials is necessary, the identity of the person reporting the complaint remains confidential. The licensing specialist will interview that person to see if the concern meets the criteria of a complaint or should be referred to another entity, such as law enforcement or the Office for Civil Rights.
