Do child care provider staff need to have any specialized education or training?
Yes. For both Child Care Center staff and Family Child Care Home staff, employees must meet certain education and training requirements in order for the program to maintain its license. Depending on the position and title of the employee staff must meet various education and training requirements and must maintain a certain number of hours of ongoing training annually. In addition, staff must meet certain health and safety training requirements in such areas as disease and injury prevention measures, shaken baby syndrome and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), CPR and first aid certifications, and general training regarding safeguarding the home. Detailed information can be found in the licensing publications issued by the licensing department entitled "Licensing Requirements for Child Care Centers" and "Licensing Requirements for Family Child Care Homes and Large Child Care Homes." These publications can be found in LawInfo´s Free Legal Forms Center.
