What Determines Overtime Hours?

Overtime is usually based on more than 40 hours of actual work per week. Benefit hours are separate and should be shown as separate in the payroll records. For example, if you actually worked 36 hours in a workweek and had 8 hours off, paid for a holiday, you are NOT entitled to overtime.
