Why did the FDA change Lipitor’s guidelines and warnings?

The FDA noticed an increased risk of muscular damage in patients using Lipitor.  Therefore, the FDA issued prescribing guidelines for the medication in 2007.  They also placed additional warnings on the drug to inform users of possible liver damage associated with Lipitor in 2011.
