What are the Residency and Filing Requirements for Divorce in Alabama?

If both spouses are not residences of Alabama, then the party requesting the divorce must be a bona fide resident of Alabama for at least 6 months before filing the divorce complaint.  (Alabama Statutes Title 30, Chapter 2, Section 5) 
An Alabama divorce complaint should be filed in the circuit court of the county where both parties resided when they separated or, if the defendant is a nonresident, then in the circuit court of the county where the plaintiff resides. (Alabama Statutes Title 30, Chapter 2, Section 4)
