Is medical marijuana legal in the state of Washington?

While marijuana possession is a criminal offense in the state of Washington, it is a defense to a marijuana possession charge that you are a qualified medical marijuana patient and/or caregiver, and that you possess a 60-day supply of marijuana, which is defined as 24 ounces and 15 plants. Medical marijuana, however, remains illegal under federal law.
